Information about John
I teach Mathematics for GCSE and Key Stages 2 & 3 students. I am a fully qualified teacher holding a Certificate in Education awarded by Birmingham University.
I have been teaching Mathematics as a private tutor for many years, since retiring as a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics & Electronics for a large Further Education College. I STILL ENJOY TEACHING! My basic ethos is that MATHS IS FUN! Numerous references are available from previously satisfied parents etc.
PARENTS ARE WELCOME TO STAY & OBSERVE THEIR CHILD BEING TAUGHT FOR EACH & EVERY LESSON IF THEY SO WISH.
I am familiar with the content of the NEW GCSE MATHS syllabus at both Foundation & Highers levels which starts in September 2015. My students are supplied with appropriate maths text books, past examination papers, work sheets & computer software, relating to their studies at school.
For Years 6 to 9 (i.e. Key Stage 2 & 3) students I have a full set of appropriate SATS examination papers, work sheets & the audio maths CD`s for the mental maths test.
I also teach MATURE STUDENTS GCSE maths etc.
If a student wants to learn, I will enthusiastically help them in every way possible!

Availability: Totally flexible to meet needs of the child and their family etc. I do teach on a Saturday and a Sunday.

Experience: 32 years as a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics and Electronics in a large Further Education College, plus 12 years as a highly enthusiastic GCSE & Key Stages 2 & 3 Private Maths Tutor.

Our son started tuition at the start of his final G.C.S.E year. He began to realize very quickly how beneficial John`s expertise in mathematics are to him and conquering areas in maths that he had always struggled in, he soon overcame.
Johns approach we found as parents` and so did our son is very methodical and `no-nonsense`. He was very consistent and detailed on addressing the problems and weaknesses which John picked up from our son very quickly - which was equally as important as our son mastering his weak areas in maths.
Again as parents`communication was always very good and John would email or call us when he felt there was a need. He was also very accommodating when we would need to reschedule a lesson.
In our son`s words `I have never understood some areas in maths until my tuition with John - the way he explains things has taught me so much and I fully understand things by his teaching method and explanations. I would have never felt as prepared for my maths exams without his tuition`.
John would always set homework and resources such as books and cds are for students to keep till the end of the tuition period.
We would highly recommend John to others and would definitely contact him again in the future for our son if need be, or for our daughter.
