I am a qualified teacher and current GCSE English examiner who helps students understand exactly how marks are awarded in the exam.

Many students struggle not because they lack ability, but because they have never been shown clearly what examiners are actually looking for. My sessions focus on practical strategies that help students write with clarity, confidence and structure.

Parents often tell me their child quickly becomes more confident once they understand how the exam works. With the right guidance, students often make rapid progress.

I aim to make lessons supportive, encouraging and focused on clear improvement each week.

ALL SESSIONS ARE DELIVERED ONLINE ONLY

Availability: I currently offer online lessons on several weekday evenings and at selected daytime times.

Most sessions take place between 4pm and 8pm, with some daytime availability for home-educated pupils, students on study leave, or adult learners.

I specialise in GCSE English Language and, as a current GCSE examiner, I can help students understand exactly how marks are awarded and what examiners are looking for in high-scoring answers.

Experience: I have over 20 years of teaching experience in both primary and secondary schools, and have supported many students through one-to-one tutoring during that time.

Much of my career has focused on teaching English at KS3, GCSE and A level, helping students strengthen their reading, writing and analytical skills. I have also helped younger pupils prepare successfully for KS2 SATs.

I am currently a GCSE examiner in English Language, which means I understand exactly how exam scri pts are assessed and what students need to do to achieve higher marks. I use this insight to help students develop clear exam strategies and produce answers that meet the assessment criteria.

My qualifications include a First Class degree in English Literature, an MA in English Language, and a qualification in teaching English to speakers of other languages (ESOL). I also have recent experience teaching refugees and learners of English as an additional language, which has strengthened my ability to explain language clearly and patiently.

Over the years I have worked with thousands of students, helping them build confidence in English and make steady, meaningful progress.
