Information about Cecily
Practicing art currently studying MA Sculpture at Slade School.
I have worked in art education for 5 years, teaching drawing, sculpture, nurturing creative confidence and sparking creativity in all ages.
I focus on the enjoyment of education, nurturing curiosity and skill-building which delivers long term impact to creativity.
I have a wide breadth of knowledge of mediums including
- Drawing
- Painting
- Sculpture
- Photography
- Art History
- Ceramics
I give dynamic and highly individualised creative lessons which take into account what each individual student wants to learn. Not only do I teach technical art skills, but I also build my students` creative confidence, helping them trust their ideas and use art as an outlet.
Attending many exhibitions in London over the last 4 years and my Art History dual honours degree mean I have a broad knowledge of Art History, perfect to recommend artists for A Level and GCSE.
For Art School applicants, I have just left Art School myself so I am very in touch with what art schools are expecting and I also have experience assisting my university interviewing prospective students, so know about this process from both sides and can share my knowledge of details such as portfolio layout to the contexts of the student`s work.
Throughout school and my degree, I have consistently gained A*s and 1sts. I am a clear communicator and passionate about my subject and getting people involved in art, whether this is to gain good marks or learn a new skill.
I am confident and friendly and love thinking of exciting new ways to make things and improve sketchbooks and experiment with new ideas and materials.
I love sharing my enthusiasm for creativity with children, getting them to love art as much as I do. By tailoring all my lessons to the individual`s interests the classes are really fun, and many of my students tell me my art is their favourite class of the week. I find this really rewarding as I know this passion will stay with them for life, teaching them so many skills. I also have a DBS check for working with children.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch with any questions at all.
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy.

Manon, 15:
Cecily has been tutoring my daughter by Skype once a week for the last 8 months. I have been very impressed by her ability to bring the right mix of theory, practical tips and imagination to her lessons which has seen my daughter progress in leaps and bounds. She was very quickly ( after one lesson) able to see how to help my daughter progress and her techniques have worked.
In addition, my daughter is taking these lessons for pleasure as she is schooled in France with no art in the curriculum. She clearly enjoys the work that Cecily is setting her and the lessons themselves. It is great how Cecily has developed such an excel-lent relationship with my daughter over Skype and how much work they manage to get done together in 1 hour. Cecily is also helping my daughter develop a portfolio to al-low her to apply for arts schools in the UK. The range of different subjects and tech-niques that my daughter is already able to demonstrate thanks to Cecilys guidance is really impressive.
Finally, Cecily is a pleasure to work with, reliable, polite and with great energy levels. She is a professional and motivating tutor, we feel very lucky to have found her.
I cant recommend Cecily highly enough.
Yolanda, 8:
Every week after the lesson Yolanda says "I can`t believe I have to wait a whole week before I get to see Cecily again!".
