Information about Paul
I am a fully qualified English teacher who has worked in permanent roles and on a supply basis across many London schools.
A constant feature of the feedback I receive from students and colleagues is the fun, enjoyable and structured atmosphere of my classroom. Good working relationships are at the heart of my teaching practice if students feel supported and comfortable then they are much more likely to take risks and make mistakes which are vital skills when learning successfully.
Availability: I am happy to work evenings and weekends. Flexibility is key if you need to change the times of appointments, I am usually able to do so with 24hrs notice. I am happy to mentor a student for a single, one-off lesson if there is something specific they need help with or to create a programme of several sessions, depending on the need.
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: I hold a PGCE (in English) from Canterbury Christ Church University (2014). I also have a BA (in Acting) from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh.
My main area of expertise is English Language and Literature at KS3 and GCSE level. That said, I have also taught literacy extensively in all Primary levels and have some experience of `A` level as well.
For the last three years I have also been an AQA English Language examiner.
In addition to this, I have also taught Drama and am can work with students to build communication and interpersonal skills.
