Experience: I can provide tutoring in the following subject areas to A level and undergraduate standard: French, Latin, Ancient Greek, English Language/ Literature, History (both ancient and modern). For the languages, I am proficient at both written and spoken levels, and can teach both. I would be available to tutor both online and in person, and am available to start immediately.

I do have previous experience as a private tutor. Since I was 16 I have regularly, in my school and university holidays, tutored children and teenagers in my local area in the listed subjects for their 11+ and GCSE exams. I have tutored five students for the 11+ exam (in verbal and non-verbal reasoning and English), all of whom passed. My proudest achievements as a tutor came last year. I was asked to tutor a student who had just failed their Latin GCSE mock. We worked together for three months, in which time I delivered comprehensive grammar lessons, reading tutorials and two mock exams. I was very proud of her when she achieved a level 8 in Latin at GCSE. I was also employed to mentor a student in his application to study classics at St Benet`s Hall, Oxford. I supported and advised him as he wrote his personal statement, and gave him several mock interviews. I was therefore pleased and proud when he was awarded a place at Oxford University.

I excel as a tutor because I invest in both the education and personal development of my charges, supporting them holistically as well as leading them to academic success. For instance, with the GCSE student whom I tutored in Latin, we also spent some time getting to know one another. I learned her likes and dislikes and how she best learned, so that I could create a learning environment and provide lessons in which she would thrive. I am a highly efficient individual. I have extensive experience in working and studying simultaneously, achieving high standards whilst meeting tight deadlines. My organisational skills are outstanding, as is evidenced by the fact that during my time at Oxford, in addition to achieving top marks in my degree, I have also: founded and run a yoga society; the college magazine; coxed a boat, and been President of the classics society. These skills support me in my work as a tutor, enabling me to plan effective, targeted lessons, and to be able to foresee when adjustments are necessary and make the relevant changes. I value excellence and integrity, and I get outstanding results. I am passionate about education, and do my utmost with every pupil to help them succeed.
