Information about Steve

I`m an experienced Physics and Maths teacher, and have run departments in schools for many years. As well as GCSE I particularly like A-level teaching, both in Physics, Maths, and Mechanics in Further Maths.

I have access to a very wide range of resources, including all available past paper questions for several exam boards. I tailor everything I do to suit each student, their specific course, and their individual needs. Every student is unique, and so every lesson I do is also a one-off, planned for them. I`ve taught in a wide variety of schools, and so taught a wide variety of students. I will help people aiming for A*s and Oxbridge, or others who have missed lots of school and need to turn around their current U grades. I have spent years teaching SEN and `gifted and talented` students, and believe I can help anyone improve - please just get in touch to discuss ay situation you might be facing.

I have years of experience in assisting students with applications to Oxbridge and other Russell Group Universities, including personal statement advice, practice interviews, and entrance examinations such as the PAT or NSAA. Large numbers of my former students have gone on to top Universities to study Physics, Maths, Astronomy or Engineering.

Though I don`t offer a whole free first lesson, I will visit (for free) any new student before our sessions start to meet them and to agree a plan. I also tutor online over Google Meet, where you see me teach as if I was writing on a whiteboard for you.

Availability: Currently offering sessions via webcam/ online whiteboard, or in person, I`m very happy to consider anything from long-term regular commitments to one-off sessions.

Willing to travel: 15 miles

Experience: After my Masters in Theoretical Physics, I trained to teach at Oxford. This is now my seventh year of teaching. I`ve been Head of Physics for the last four years, and also have been Head of Science and deputy head of 6th form. I have mentored other teachers, and now run A-level maths and Physics for schools. I have also worked closely with Oxford University outreach officers for many years, assisting students with their applications. I also currently work marking A-level papers for one of the major exam boards.

Steve provides A-level physics tutoring for my daughter. He has been very responsive in all his communication from the outset. He has a lovely manner when tutoring, uses lots of analogies to help explain some of the more difficult concepts and clearly knows his material. We are very pleased with the support he has provided to date!

Steve is not only technically good but he`s also brilliant at finding gaps in students understanding and approach. He helped my daughter achieve an A in maths, thanks Steve.
