Applied physics researcher with a PhD in experimental physics and part-time data scientist, with extensive experience in teaching maths and physics, up to undergraduate level.

Despite what my academic record might suggest, I have experienced difficulties and burnout periods as a student, I learned how to get out of them and what kind of help is needed to deal with them. My method relies on understanding what each student needs to work on the most and what are the best ways to do it. Whether it is planning and time management, answer clarity or problem solving, I always prepare my teaching for each student’s needs. My approach relies on getting students satisfied with their progress and increasing their engagement and commitment.

Experience: J., KS3, Maths: J. has Asperger syndrome and required an interactive and varied style of teaching, to keep his attention engaged. In the year we worked together, he was able to stay within the top 10% of his class.

Hannah, GCSE, Maths: I tutored Hannah during her first year in KS4. Hannah has dyscalculia and needed help with problem solving and geometry representation. I helped her keeping ahead of the subjects being taught, and at the end of the year I was asked to tutor the following year as well.

Lucas, A level, Physics: Lucas had a predicted grade of D and needed B to get in the universities he was interested in. Together we worked hard on how to answer questions tidily and effectively, and on problem solving. He succeeded in getting B.

Thomas, A level, Physics: I helped Thomas prepare for his Physics re-seat, having got an E the previous year. Thomas has dyslexia and needed to work on his ability to write in a tidy and understandable way. He eventually obtained a B in his re-seat and was able to enrol to the university of his choice.

Okan, undergraduate, Physics and Engineering subjects: I tutored Okan on Physics and Engineering subjects, both in person and remotely, in 2017/2018. Together we worked on an effective revision schedule and on exam preparation. Okan successfully advanced his undergraduate studies. He requested my assistance later in his studies on other modules.

Other examples of my experience in tutoring are available if requested. I also have experience in tutoring and mentoring at a university within teaching labs, or project work towards the completion of BSc and MSc programs.
Upon request, I can teach Italian, having experience in teaching languages at a beginner/improvers level, and scientific programming, having professional experience with Python and MATLAB.
