I am a highly experienced tutor and examiner, specialising in Latin, Greek, and Classical Civilisation since 1992. I currently teach at a leading London college and serve as an examiner for OCR and Cambridge International A-Level. My academic background includes degrees from the University of York and Middlesex University.

Over the years, I have developed a strong reputation for preparing students for the most competitive independent schools in the UK, including Eton, Westminster, Winchester, and Harrow. Many of my pupils have won scholarships and academic awards at 11+, 13+, and 16+ entry. I have also written over forty books and am a respected senior member of academic staff at my institution. I specialise in helping students thrive at Common Entrance, scholarship level, GCSE, and A-Level.

Availability: Thanks to the shift to online teaching, I am now accessible to students across the UK and internationally — though my availability is limited due to high demand. I recommend early contact to discuss scheduling. I do my best to accommodate families but often reach full capacity.

Experience: I teach Latin and Greek from beginner to advanced level, but have particular expertise in Common Entrance preparation. I help pupils build the confidence, knowledge, and precision needed to succeed in grammar school and scholarship exams. My students range from 10-year-olds sitting 11+ exams to university undergraduates and adult learners.

I focus on two key areas:

- Exam technique, using past papers, model answers, and careful walkthroughs;

- Language mastery, building a solid grasp of grammar, vocabulary, and translation skills from English and into English.

Greek and Latin are demanding, structured subjects — but with the right guidance, they become deeply rewarding. I teach students how to read, translate, and understand classical texts with confidence and enjoyment. I also introduce them to the literature, mythology, and history of the ancient world, which enriches their education and often sets them apart at interview.
