Information about Ruth
I have a first class degree in natural sciences and a PGCE, both from the University of Cambridge, and then was a physics teacher in a leading independent school for eight years.
The part of my teaching job I most enjoyed and felt best at was helping pupils individually, and so in the summer of 2019 I decided to stop teaching in a school and focus on tutoring.
I cover the following parts of Enfield: Enfield Town, Bush Hill Park, Ponders End, Winchmore Hill, Oakwood
Home tuition may be available at online rates for lessons during the school day or within half a mile. I can also tutor from my home for the same rates as online.
Availability: Summer holidays:
I am available Monday-Thursday most weeks during July and August.
From September:
Mondays: 4.50pm
Tuesdays: daytime; 3.55pm; 6.05pm
Wednesdays: daytime; after school until 7pm
Thursdays: afternoon; 3.50pm; 4.55pm
All these times are based on online lessons; in-person lessons would need to be at slightly different times, depending on travel times.
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: I have eight years` experience teaching GCSE, A level and IB physics, as well as year 9 chemistry and year 7 and 8 general science, in an independent school.
Since leaving there in the summer of 2019, I have tutored pupils in A level and IB physics, and GCSE maths and general science, covering a range of different exam boards, and including both general support with schoolwork / revision and full home-schooling.

Ruth is an excellent tutor! She explains topics very clearly and thoroughly, using different methods (such as videos of experiments), and at the appropriate level. Ruth is friendly, yet professional; patient, yet efficient; an excellent communicator, and very accommodating with the scheduling of sessions. She knows physics inside out. Ruth helped my daughter immensely at mastering physics GCSE, and being more than ready for the exams. I would highly recommend her!

We only had a trial lesson, she is very professional, knowledgable. has a personal way of teaching, and knows how to access exam specs etc so can teach specific to your course. did not go ahead due to personal reasons. otherwise would have chosen Ruth
