Having taught first and second language and literature English for over twenty years in both the private and the state sectors of education, I have a range of experience to accommodate a variety of students, with different needs, to succeed in GCSE, IB, English Language and Literature exams. Having completed my own studies, I taught senior English Language and Literature, becoming Head of Department, and then Head of an Adult education centre. I am aware if the standards and requirements of the GCSE first language and the literature syllabi, as well as the IGCSE curriculum: Generally, my students perform well in the final examinations, and consistently reflect improvement in their final grades. I am a GCSE Examiner, specifically AQA, but also aware of the criteria for other examining boards, and I focus on the skills required for achieving targets in the final examinations, as well as other achievements. I have also lectured at University; have been involved in syllabus formation and curriculum research, and have published papers related to teaching methodology and skills. I am a focused and qualified teacher who believes in the success of individuals; the development of an individual`s self confidence; and quality in performance.

Availability: I am currently available each day of the week after 4pm until 8pm UK time zone. I could also be available on Saturdays. I teach online and at homes if required.

Experience: I have a post-graduate Honours degree, from South Africa; a Higher Diploma in Education (PGCSE equivalent); was fortunate to undertake post graduate study from Oxford University, (first class), in English Literature and Economics; am a Member of the Teaching and Learning Academy, am an Examiner of GCSE. I am Ex-Head of an Adult Education Centre and Head of Department; I was responsible for the syllabus formation of a subject for the National Curriculum, and have lectured as part of the Education Department for teacher training, at the University of Natal, South Africa. I was also a Member of the Chartered College of Teachers. I have taught diverse students with a range of abilities and needs for the IB & GCSE and A level equivalent exams, with very successful results.
