Information about Isabella
Tutoring approach
I am a patient, friendly and encouraging tutor. I come from an academic background so I have thorough and extensive knowledge of the subjects I tutor. I am good at communicating not just how something works but why its useful or interesting.
I tailor my approach to the student. I can offer essay practice, exam practice, and in-depth topic study. I use real-world examples wherever possible. I aim to build the students confidence in their work, not just their ability.
My background
I have an undergraduate degree in chemistry and a PhD in archaeological chemistry. After my PhD, I worked as a researcher in Germany and after that in the Netherlands, where I worked in forensics. I have taught at university level, in undergraduate and masters seminars and one-to-one learning. I have mentored undergraduate and PhD students. Ive been on radio and TV to talk about my own research.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy boats, medieval history and meditation.
Availability: I am available afternoons Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and all evenings.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have taught archaeology and archaeological science to degree level for 8 years. This work included one-to-one tutoring as well as small group work.
I have also tutored GCSE chemistry privately.
