I am a 28 year old female teacher (and mother of two), specially trained in teaching Secondary Mathematics as of 2015, and have been privately tutoring outside of the classroom successfully for over seven years helping students in KS1-5. I am confident and outgoing, and really enjoy building a positive relationship with my students - I still keep in contact with my first tutee from 2014. Happy to tutor all students and have experience with SEN (autism in particular), but I will only help those who are willing to learn and strive to achieve great results! Other qualifications include: EYFS Diploma, Understanding Autism (Level 2), Paed. First Aid (Level 3), Child Psychology (Level 3) and due to complete an MA in Education specialising in Leadership and Management (Level 7) in Sept 2021.

Experience: I have taught in four different secondary schools (Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Wiltshire) and worked with children in two primary schools (Derbyshire) to gain an insight into how pupils are prepared for their SATs exams at the end of KS2. My style of teaching changes depending on a child`s needs and I enjoy adapting each topic to suit a child`s learning style. I like to keep my hourly sessions engaging yet challenging, to stretch knowledge and improve understanding - at the end of the day, my job is to make the learning journey as easy as possible and ensure that a student is confident of their ability.

I provide all resources, exercise books and equipment required for my sessions (excluding any revision guides you may wish to buy for yourself/your child online). I also set homework every week to complete for the following session. Sessions are usually 60 minutes long however I do offer sessions for 90 minutes at a discounted rate - I only offer 120 minute sessions over the exam periods as I often find that 120 minutes is too long for a student to concentrate for!


My teaching approach:

- Encourage challenges and enjoy teaching maths through interactive sessions with a variety of resources.

- Explain topics to ensure pupils fully understand the concepts before tackling book work questions, and even create my own worksheets and examples to bridge any gaps.

- Understand the curriculum of both primary and secondary mathematics very well and take a calm, relaxed approach to teaching.
