Information about Allison
I am over the moon and so proud of how hard my students have worked over the last year during lockdown. My 2020 students passed their exams successfully (marks based on Mock exams) and my 2021 students are working diligently towards passing their school exams based on the original English Language and Literature GCSE`s. I was so happy with my 2019 GCSE students. Their results in both English Language and Literature were outstanding! From predicted grades of 2`s and 3`s to actually achieving 5`s to 9`s. Fantastic!
A bit about me...I am a highly qualified teacher with over 22 years of classroom teaching experience- I am fun, upbeat, positive and I understand the needs of students today. I specialise in teaching lower level learners.
My goal is to make students comfortable with learning and trusting their inner abilities to do their best. I am respectful, patient and understand that each student has different needs in learning.
I have earned my teaching credentials and QTS status with outstanding results in two countries. I am well versed in teaching English specialising in secondary school GCSE English. I have worked with a plethora of GCSE students- several being English as a second language students. One particular student was in the UK for less than a year before taking the GCSE exams- having minimal English language and Literature knowledge- they worked incredibly hard, and achieved a 5 in language and a 7 in lit. Amazing. If there is a will there is a way.
In the USA, I was a mild-moderate Special Education teacher for students aged 5-18. As a teacher, I assessed SEN students-along with teaching English and Math to students that were diagnosed with Specific Learning Disabilities, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Aspergers, high functioning Autism, ADD, ADHD, Bi-Polar and students with mental health.
As a teacher, I hope to motivate, in a positive way. I aim to provide a stimulating learning environment that encourages students to trust their own opinions while fostering confidence in order to realise their full potential. I aim for my students to have a safe learning environment that they enjoy to be in.
Availability: At this time, I am only seeing students online via Skype.
I have a full English curriculum ready to deliver- both Language and Literature. I tailor all lessons towards individual needs.
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: My experience is vast..... Upon my arrival to England, my first teaching position included teaching students on behavioural contracts in the school behaviour unit, Years 7-11. These students were not eligible to attend classes within the mainstream population. In addition to teaching, I was responsible for coordinating special services and overseeing progress on personal goals and school behaviour discipline for students in danger of permanent exclusion.
My credentials of education include Qualified Teaching Status in the UK- English, a Masters of Science degree in Psychotherapy: Marriage Family Therapy, a Masters of Science degree in Special Education, Health teaching Credential, Cross Cultural Language and Academic Development (CLAD) Credential, and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Dance.
Feedback For Allison (15)
Allison started in September with us and already has been a brilliant weekly support to my childs literacy needs. Lessons are focused on my childs gaps and areas of development. Allison brings lots of energy and encouragement. Allison recognises my childs achievements at each lesson and my child is always very happy afterwards. Weve been delighted with Allison.
My daughter learnt quickly with her and shown improvement in her writing. She is more interested to learn from her. Thank you.
Great tutor, my son really happy with Allison and can already see an improvement in his English in only a few weeks.
I have rated Allison as excellent. because I believe that she deserves this rating. Being knowledgeable does not always mean being able to teach but she has both skills so it is not surprising that we are already seeing improvements to our daughter at school and towards her grades. She is very professional, she plans the sessions meticulously and is very focused on how she wants to approach each lesson. We find that this makes a huge difference. My daughter finds her approachable and has really opened up to her. She even looks forward to the sessions.
Both me and my daughter are very pleased. Professional and always punctual
Cheerful friendly and works well with student
Mrs Allison is tutoring our son for nearly a year now and his mark in English GCSE preparation is already improved by 2 grades. Mrs Allison is very professional and organised, she always does her best to accommodate extra lessons or sometime change the lesson date/time. She provides the required teaching materials and has been always on time. I strongly recommend her .
Allison has been teaching my daughter for past few months . She has been a good teacher but when I requested her to cancel one lesson on a day notice for some personal reasons . She sent a very unprofessional message and decided to terminate the services . Thats very shocking to see from a senior teacher. This kind of unprofessional attitude towards adjusting with others requirement is highly disappointing.Tutor Hunt please make sure there is a system in place to handle such issues. In any professional work environment, there is always an understanding among people for adjusting with each others urgent needs . We wish Allison best in her life but do not agree with such behaviour ! Disappointed !!
Allison is a very professional Teacher. She is very knowledgeable and always encourage the child to move to the next level in a positive way.She has always been on time. She is a very approachable person.I would recommend her anytime. Thank you.
Allison is a very capable, adaptable and patient tutor. My son suffers from anxiety and initially found it hard to work with a new tutor, he in fact refused to sit down to work the first session. Allison approached him creatively and patiently, introducing play into work and they are now studying together very well.
My son has had just 2lessons with Ms Allison and is enjoying it. She is a very knowledgeable tutor who comes well prepared and knows how to engage her student. Its still too early to see the progress made but I`m confident I made the right decision to hire her.
Allison was amazing with my son. Clearly tailored her tutoring to meet his needs. She prepared really well and clearly put in a lot of time in developing really helpful revision materials for the exams
Very helpful teacher. I would highly recommend her as a tutor.

First class tutor - we are so happy with the work Allison is doing and we especially value the honest feedback after each session. Excellent!
