My name is Ellen, I have been working as a piano tutor in and around the Bishopstoke area for several years. I have pupils of all ages, adults and children. I aim to give an all round approach to music, and teach both practical and theory from the start.

With learning any instrument the most important part is enjoyment. That is why most of us start learning in the first place! I think its really important to nurture that, play music you enjoy and like the sound of. If working towards a deadline gives you an incentive to practice and work hard, then grades are probably the way to go.

But whatever you would like to achieve with piano: whether its to learn classical piano, jazz or something else, I am here to help you.

I also have experience teaching Grade 5 theory, currently with a 100% Distinction Pass Rate. This can be taught within a term for those who already have a good musical knowledge and are looking to take the exam quickly. Or slightly longer for those who like to take their time, and feel and confident as they can for the exam! Please contact me regarding more information into my Grade 5 theory course.

Availability: I`m available every day after school, and a Saturday morning. For those who are homeschooled or adults I also have some availability during the day (but this is more limited.)
I work around the school calender, teaching in term time. I do also offer lessons during half term and holidays but these have to be booked separately. I find this works best so that the lessons can fit around all the holiday fun.

Experience: I have experience teaching children and adults of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. I find learning piano with a view to taking grades is a great way to stay focused. However some prefer learning just for fun, whatever you would like to get out of piano, I`m able to help.

I think it`s important for you, or your child to feel comfortable with my teaching style. Therefore I offer 4 trial lessons at a reduced price, so you can take a month to see if you`re comfortable with the arrangements. In that time, I will provide the books and I can help with your practice routine. That way you can get the most out of your lessons.
