I am a friendly and approachable full-time Mum with a genuine love of teaching and a true passion for words, books and language. As a Mum and as someone who spends a lot of time around children, I feel that I’m great at connecting with young people and am always keen to pass on my passion for reading and writing to the next generation!

Before I had my children, I received a first class honours degree in Creative Writing from the University of Greenwhich and then shortly after began my career as a copy writer, working at Groupon UK on the editorial team as well as writing for several different online and print vintage fashion magazines. I then spent a while tutoring GCSE level students in English Language and Literature which I really enjoyed, but stopped for a while to concentrate on my children.

I picked up my tutoring career again in May 2022 and have spent the last year really focussing on my tutoring business and building my clients up which has been such an exciting and enjoyable experience; I feel that I am learning all the time and have gained so much knowledge and experience from all the different students I’ve met and worked with over this past year. I’m always looking for new ways to engage and interest my students and I now incorporate a range of learning styles in my lessons, from close readings of texts (where I teach students how to closely analyse language and structure in fiction and non fiction texts), to sharing essay writing tips such as showing them how to ‘embed’ quotes in their essays and working through exam papers together, writing the answers as a team. Sometimes we will create flash cards or posters together or go over grammar and spelling exercises - whatever I feel I need to do to meet the needs of the student and, most importantly, keep them engaged in learning!

When it comes to English, I welcome students of all abilities and will always try to provide a friendly, non-judgemental learning environment where I can help students who may be struggling with English to achieve their full potential.

I’m happy to teach at my home but will also travel to you if it’s within a 15 minute drive.

Experience: I am a writer with a First Class Honours Degree in BA Honours Creative Writing. I have worked as a copy writer and have some experience in fashion journalism.

I have tutored a range of students in GCSE English Language and English Literature and have experience working with a variety of different exam boards.
