I am a fully qualified primary school teacher with with an honours degree from St Marys University College, Twickenham. I have experience with the full primary range but currently I teach in a primary school which has been graded Good by Ofsted. I have taught and tutored across the key stages due to my current position (year 6 teacher) I am fully aware of all the recent national curriculum changes and the new expectations set out for primary aged children. I have all the necessary information regarding changes in frameworks/curriculum in education. I have experience with teaching and preparing children for a wide range of exams including key stage one and two SATS. Furthermore I am fully resourced and able to source and provide a full range of resources necessary to meet your child`s needs.
I have a real passion for teaching and love watching children flourish in a safe environment. I take great pride in my teaching capabilities and enjoy helping children achieve their full potential. I offer numerous types of tuition, to meet your needs. I have a secure and thorough understanding of the needs and demands of each year group, from reception to upper key stage two. My aim is to inspire and challenge your child and help them flourish in a safe, welcoming, friendly environment. I take my pride in my ability to support a full range of children`s needs and feel my friendly approach with a good sense of humour thrown in helps children to feel more comfortable and open to new learning. I also feel my teaching approach of `getting up and having a go` and experience learning inspires children. Throughout my literacy lessons I regularly use elements of drama and role play to inspire children. I also use resources well to engage children. I take pride in getting to know a child before learning, to allow me to design a learning programme to meet their interests. Teaching through children`s interests engages them and provides a ready made learning platform. Please note: I have worked with children with a range of needs including those with a statement or individual educational plan. (EHCP or IEP)
Before beginning tutoring I will ask about your needs, aims and desires and what you wish to accomplish. If we begin to work together I will start with an initial assessment to allow me to build up a larger picture of your child`s needs. This allows me to design an individual learning programme to challenge and support your child.
I look forward to making a difference to your child`s learning.
Please contact me if you require further information or you feel I may be right for you.
Availability: Due to my full time job I am only available at the weekend and early evenings on some week days. However I am flexible with times and open to change from week to week if this is necessary.
If you are needing short bursts of tutoring I am more than happy to help for just a few sessions or more long term. Please contact me with your requirements and we can discuss the best path.
NEW: I am more than happy to tutor more than one child at time. The children can be of a similar ability or of differing needs. However, research shows that children with a similar ability who are tutored together will achieve the best results.
I am open to setting homework and feel that this will boost your child further as it will show what they are capable of achieving independently. If you would like / not like homework to be set please inform me of this.
I will always provide feedback, verbal, text or email (your most preferred method) to keep you fully informed of your child`s progress and achievements. Parents and teachers work well together to create a secure learning pattern.
