Information about Rebecca
I`m a well-qualified teacher and lecturer with a quarter of a century of experience. I`m currently taking a break from the classroom and my job as a head of department in order to study for a PhD at Warwick Medical School. I`ve successfully tutored many students over the years. Some have come seeking high grades to get into medicine, for example, and I`ve been able to give them the extension work required. Others have wanted a bit more help with the basics. I try to help my students understand the principle ideas and make the connections. Helping all students to achieve their goals is very rewarding. I teach all of the Biology A level, and all boards, but I specialise in Data handling, Practicals and second year holistic topics such as Homeostasis and Ecology. Exams these days are more about application than about knowledge. I use my experience as an examiner to help students to understand what is required of them.
Availability: I am available 7am to 9pm everyday by prior arrangement.

Experience: I`ve been teaching for 25 years, mostly A level Biology in FE colleges and Sixth Forms, but also BTEC Applied Science. I have a PGCE with QTS. I have been a Programme Manager/Head of Department, and I have worked for the exam board AQA. I have tutored many students over the years, with great results, and in particular, several candidates for Medical School. I`ve also been a co-tutor for Initial Teacher Training and Newly Qualified Teachers.

Rebecca was an amazing tutor for A level AQA biology and integral to me achieving an A grade for my predicted grades!! She is always on time and efficient! She has a vast amount of resources and knowledge of what examiners are looking for and the mark scheme which is extremely important. Our lessons were normally based around working through exam questions and she would explain topics on the whiteboard really well if need be. She uploads all the resources and notes from the lessons onto a google classroom which is extremely useful. The lessons were always paced well, not too fast and not too slow and we would get a lot covered in just an hour. The microphone quality was also fantastic and really clear which is great for online lessons. All in all I would highly recommend Rebecca has a biology tutor! Friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable. Everything you would want in a tutor!!!

Rebecca is very clear in her explanations of topics and frequently asks whether I understand it or need further help. She listens to what I don`t understand and adapts her explanations to fit my learning style and also engages me by asking questions, which I find is helpful in finding out what I know and what I don`t. I love biology and she keeps me interested in it. I really recommend her !

My daughter has found Rebecca a real asset with her A level Biology. Very friendly, easy to chat problems through with , gives advice and lots of past papers of OCR . Would recommend Rebecca to help with A level teaching .
