Information about Sarah
I am passionate about art and all children and young people having the same education chances. I have worked in the design industry and believe this helps students see that there are art related careers out there to pursue. I have children, two of which are going through their GCSEs and A Levels so understand the pressures from their point of view too. I wish to provide focussed help and tailor to individuals needs and areas for progression.
Availability: Late afternoon
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: I have a Degree in Art, Design and Media which led me in to a successful previous career of Graphic Design.
I decided to retrain nine years ago to become a secondary school teacher specialising in Art. I have a full CRB/DBS and teaching qualification.
I have a passion for art and teaching and now have an extensive network of artists and contacts that I can use for development work, artist research and annotations.
I spent four years as a subject leader and two years as a Head of Year alongside full time teaching. I have had excellent results to date.
I have taught mainly in Cheshire and Flintshire and have used both AQA and WJEC exam boards. I am currently teaching under the umbrella of Eduqas. The assessment criteria for all will cover the same assessment objectives.
I also teach GCSE weekend workshops. This provides a unit of coursework comprising of a design board and final piece. It is an intensive weekend but can change a pupils grades.
I am fully committed to enabling students to achieve their potential ready for their next step in life.
