I have an Masters in Finance (UK) and a degree in Business studies (UK) and over Nineteen years of cognate experience in the education and public sectors in the UK and Ghana.
I am up to date with the current initiatives on Data Protection, Safe Guarding, Numeracy, Literacy and Equality and Diversity. I have attended all workshops on the above and completed related assessments.
I am competent in using current innovative technologies in the teaching environment to enthuse learners. Some of these include: Prezi, Google drive, VLE, Socrative, Sims etc. I plan my delivery to incorporate a wide range of experiences for learners, such as: external visits, work placement, guest lectures/Speakers as well as adopting wide range of teaching strategies.

I was a lead internal Verifier in Mont Rose College for Level 5 Business QCF. I am experienced in writing BTEC assignments and designing course materials. I have taught on the new NQF Level 2,3 Business curriculum, delivering both externally assessed units (2,2 and 9) and achieved above 90% in learner’s pass rate. I have also successfully delivered and assessed Units 3, 4, 8, 13, 21 and 27. On the BTEC/Enterprise Level 3 in Business, I have successfully delivered and assessed all four mandatory units as well as over ten (10) optional units.

I am aware of the prerequisites for student’s achievements in these exams. I employed my knowledge and experiences in marking public examination to equip learners with the skills and techniques that are needed for high grades. I teach students how to answer different types of exam questions. I use quizzes and short activities to reinforce content knowledge. I use past question papers to heighten student’s confidence and I carry out frequent mock assessment to assess student’s capabilities and areas that needs further attention.

I consistently achieve grade 2 in my teaching observation. I am able to manage the learning environment by setting ground rules and ensuring compliance while maintaining a friendly atmosphere. I am conversant with and also applied disciplinary procedures as stipulated by the college/school to address behavioural issues. To enhance my capabilities in this area, I attend trainings on managing challenging behaviour organized by the college and external agencies.

I am currently a personal tutor to a cohort of 16 – 19 year olds, offering pastoral care. I manage the tutor’ file and regularly monitor and update student’s records. I have organised and also attend course team meetings where students’ progress is discussed and target set for inputs on student’s ILPs. I frequently write updates on students on referral and regularly meet with the Student Performance team to discuss any outcome on student’s support.
