Information about Andy
Hi, my name is Andy and I`d be delighted to tutor your child or yourself. I am an enthusiastic person always focused on enabling the progress of students. I am an effective communicator and feel that one of my strengths is the ability to transmit information in a number of different ways to ensure understanding. I believe that learning should be fun and engaging, added to that my dedication and good sense of humour will provide the best ingredients are in place for sound progression. I can tutor students of all abilities and pride myself on being able to form great relationships with my students, to the extent that their ability to learn and attain exam technique is gained through working well together.
Availability: I will be available around my job working in school. I am flexible and will do my best to accommodate times- preferably at the end of the school day. In the upcoming weeks towards the examinations ,usually after Christmas, I offer sessions at weekends and in school holidays.
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: I am Head of Humanities & Social Science, working at 11-18 level. I have been a teacher for 17 years, twelve of which at middle leadership level.
I have taught Geography at all levels (Key stage 3/ GCSE & A Level as well as lecturing at degree level)
I am a senior examiner for AQA AS, A2 and GCSE Geography as well as previously working for OCR and Edexcel.
I am the teaching and learning lead at one of the region`s top teaching universities, working with trainee teachers on developing their skills.
I have joint 2:1 honours in Geography and English and as a result have taught English at Key stage 2, 3 and 4. Most recently I have worked with pupils targeting success in Key stage 2 entrance examinations with a view to a place in high schools.
I taught GCSE English last academic year to Year 11 with the top grade student achieving a grade 8.
I have just attained a Masters qualification which is in Educational Leadership and Management.
I have been head of department for a number of subjects including: Geography, History, R.E., Law, Leisure and Tourism and Government and Politics as well as a number of BTEC qualifications.

Andy is an exceptional tutor who demonstrated extremely high standards both in teaching and in professionalism. He was patient, supportive, encouraging and inspiring and he was always very thorough and comprehensive in his subject knowledge. His teaching style and delivery of all his lessons was excellent and he always went the extra mile in order to ensure that my daughter had understood the concept being taught. Andy is a very friendly and likable tutor and he inspired confidence and self belief in my daughter which enabled her to achieve 2 grades higher than the predicted grades set by the school. Andy is very passionate about his subject and as a teacher he is fully committed to his students reaching their absolute full potential and I would therefore recommend him very highly and without any reservation in the highest from possible. Thank you so much Andy I can`t thank you enough for everything that you did to help my daughter achieve the grades that she needed to study Law at University.

Andy is an amazing teacher. He is organised, really supporting and encouraging and very knowledgeable. Always on time and we have seen a big improvement in my son`s interest in Geography, Andy has brought it to life and is also teaching Travel and Toursim which has been a great addition and variety to my son`s learning. Luke really enjoys the time he spends with Andy and has grown in confidence in a short time. It feels as though he is really on track with his learning and GCSE preparation. I would recommend Andy totally!!! Thank you

Andy is a reliable and very experienced teacher and tutor. He tutored our son for A level geography, helping him to gain a higher than predicted grade. He got so much out of the sessions with Andy. He is knowledgeable about the subject and his experience as an examiner was evident as the exams approached. His friendly approach put our son at ease. Thanks Andy
