Information about Andy
Hi, my name is Andy and I`d be delighted to tutor your child or yourself. I am an enthusiastic person always focused on enabling the progress of students. I am an effective communicator and feel that one of my strengths is the ability to transmit information in a number of different ways to ensure understanding. I believe that learning should be fun and engaging, added to that my dedication and good sense of humour will provide the best ingredients are in place for sound progression. I can tutor students of all abilities and pride myself on being able to form great relationships with my students, to the extent that their ability to learn and attain exam technique is gained through working well together.
Availability: I will be available around my job working in school. I am flexible and will do my best to accommodate times- preferably at the end of the school day. In the upcoming weeks towards the examinations ,usually after Christmas, I offer sessions at weekends and in school holidays.

Experience: I am Head of Humanities & Social Science, working at 11-18 level. I have been a teacher for 17 years, twelve of which at middle leadership level.
I have taught Geography at all levels (Key stage 3/ GCSE & A Level as well as lecturing at degree level)
I am a senior examiner for AQA AS, A2 and GCSE Geography as well as previously working for OCR and Edexcel.
I am the teaching and learning lead at one of the region`s top teaching universities, working with trainee teachers on developing their skills.
I have joint 2:1 honours in Geography and English and as a result have taught English at Key stage 2, 3 and 4. Most recently I have worked with pupils targeting success in Key stage 2 entrance examinations with a view to a place in high schools.
I taught GCSE English last academic year to Year 11 with the top grade student achieving a grade 8.
I have just attained a Masters qualification which is in Educational Leadership and Management.
I have been head of department for a number of subjects including: Geography, History, R.E., Law, Leisure and Tourism and Government and Politics as well as a number of BTEC qualifications.
