Experienced, patient and professional tutor who is passionate about passing on knowledge and helping those realise their musical goals.

I am Rohan and I am a professional freelance drummer based in Edinburgh. I`ve recently completed my final year of University, studying an honours degree in Popular Music at Edinburgh Napier University. My passion for music began at an early age, where I studied violin in primary school. I soon progressed to the double bass and then finally settled with drums as my primary instrument. During school, I was involved with the school`s wind band, string orchestra and the big band. Since moving to Edinburgh, I`ve been honing my playing by keeping myself constantly busy with work in ensembles and solo projects.

Growing up, I was heavily influenced by drummers such as Chad Smith (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) and Blink-182`s Travis Barker. Today, I look up to a variety of artists such as Benny Greb, Mark Juliana, Aaron Spears, Eric Moore and many more. With this eclectic range of influences, I`ve been able to develop and refine my own style. My style has been described as "Incredibly musical" with a "strong emphasis on both technical playing and groove". (Annie Booth, Katie Ross)

I am an accomplished sight reader and a strong improviser. As a session musician, I am comfortable in a number of genres, including jazz, funk, fusion and soul, punk, metal, rock and electronic/dance. I believe that versatility and authenticity is key to being a good musician and I strive for this in my work. My dependable and reliable approach to any project has seen me play with many talented musicians from the length and breadth of the country.

Currently, I play for: Painting Rockets, Annie Booth, Sahara and Mathematic.

Along with drumming, I`m an able and passionate sound engineer and producer. In my first year at university I became fascinated with the production side of music. I began to work alongside my course mates to record, mix and master music. I try to combine my passions for production and drums with use of electronic pads and live sample triggers.

Availability: All day on Monday and Tuesday. Sunday mornings too.
