My philosophy is to help my students fulfil their potential by developing confidence, good subject knowledge and effective examination techniques. I believe that effective challenge is best delivered via an understanding approach based on a clear knowledge of individual students` needs.

Availability:
I am currently accepting online students only, via SKYPE, and, in most cases, only with students at `A`, `AS` or undergraduate level. (Please note that the `Distance Willing to Travel` box below does not allow me to make this clear.)

I may, in exceptional cases, continue to work with other students. Please do not hesitate to enquire.

Experience: 24 years` experience as English teacher/Head of English/school leader in big UK comprehensives, all with sixth forms.

Adult tutor.

11 years as Education Officer in Cambridgeshire.

Examiner, moderator and subject representative for many years at GCSE level, including work at a national level.

7 years as an independent education and media consultant, and many more as writer and modern historian.
