Information about Ksenia

I have grown up between, London, Russia and Geneva, and went on to study at Oxford. I was the only person from my school to get into Oxford in recent memory, and have helped children from a variety of backgrounds get to grips with the English education system and admissions processes. Having experience sitting examinations - and getting into - some of the UK`s most prestigious secondary schools and sixth forms as well as Oxford, I know from first-hand experience what it takes to do this successfully.

I get a real kick out of helping young people discover what they can achieve and how to make the most of their talents. I believe that tutorials should be a conversation that makes the student think and discover new things, as opposed to learning material by rote. I think that only this way do children learn to love to learn, rather than force themselves to study - and this, in turn, is key to stellar academic results in the long term.

I am happy to help with a variety of subjects, as well as helping with applications and general essay-writing/verbal and non-verbal reasoning skills. I look forward to hearing from you!

Availability: I am available any weekday evening, and any time on the weekend.

Willing to travel: 15 miles

Experience: Sep 2013 - Apr 2014:
Tutoring English to Russian and French-speaking children and adults, homework help for children in English and Maths.

Nov 2012 - Jan 2013:
Oxbridge Admissions consultation in Geneva. Helped to prepare students at my former school for university applications, including mock interviews and help with writing personal statements, as well as giving extensive advice on choice of university and degree. I was also invited by my former school to give a talk about applying to Oxbridge and what it is like to study there.

Nov 2010 - Oct 2011:
Worked as a tutor in Geneva. Taught languages to a dyslexic student. Worked closely with two Russian children over the summer on bringing their French up to scratch to prepare them to start studying in the French school system the following year. The girls successfully managed to start at the school despite having no knowledge of French before we started lessons.
