Information about Elaine
I am a passionate English teacher with over 9 years` teaching experience at secondary and university level. In addition to this, I have tutored primary to adult students privately in person and online for over five years including those who speak English as an additional language. Student success rates are high with many increasing by two academic grades/levels in less than a school year. The students I work with not only improve academically, but also consistently grow in confidence with verbal and written communication, which can then be applied to other subjects and contexts. Feedback I regularly receive from parents/carers and students themselves is highly positive, with many recommending me to additional students.
I create engaging and tailored lessons online to enhance the progress of individuals with regular feedback offered to support progression. A range of activities are offered within sessions to increase capability whilst also ensuring lessons remain fun. Literacy and grammatical accuracy are embedded through a range of activities to ensure students become confident readers and writers of English. Analysis and evaluation of texts are encouraged at all levels to ensure the highest marks are achieved in future examinations and that student confidence in accessing texts is high no matter their age.
For secondary students, I am highly knowledgeable with current GCSE and A level specifications along with the requirements for 11+ examinations for English. I also I work with past papers and design exemplar materials to provide the most realistic experience of examinations as possible. Mark criteria is also broken-down section by section to allow students to be critical and conscientious of their own work.
For primary learners, I have five years of experience of teaching the primary English curriculum and developing the skills students require to meet and surpass expectations at each key stage.
With all students, I find the time to review progress with parents, carers, and students to identify areas for improvement. In addition, all students I work with have access to a personalised classroom where resources can be easily shared, and work can be easily uploaded for marking and feedback. This feature also allows students to contact me between sessions to ask any questions or access further support.
I pride myself on my ability to quickly develop productive and trusting relationships with students and work hard to instil confidence and self-belief (which I often find can be the root cause of difficulty with a subject). I look forward to hearing from prospective students and supporting them in achieving their goals.

Feedback For Elaine (3)
Elaine tutored my daughter for three months before her A level English exams. She knew the syllabus very well. She immediately had a clear understanding of what help my daughter needed to improve her grade. Working with Elaine my daughter gained increasing confidence in herself and her ability which grew enormously, this she then also applied to other subjects. The grade she obtained was levels higher than her predicted grade all down too the help given to her by Elaine. I cannot thank Elaine enough for helping my daughter reach her potential and I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a tutor.
Great tutor. Works well with my daughter using different methods to engage her.
My son is enjoying his lessons with Elaine, he said an hour feels like 20mins.
I would recommend.
