I love English and enjoy finding the hidden meanings behind the words on the page. I have a kind and caring nature with a real passion for learning and passing on my knowledge to those who need it. I am a hard worker who strives for the best which has allowed me to currently be studying at the University of Southampton for a BA in Film and English, which is a Russell Group University. In my free time I like to read and watch as many films as I can to broaden my knowledge. Due to my kind and caring nature I strive to make every student feel comfortable to share their ideas with me and help them achieve their goals. I also regularly check with the student to ensure they have and are succinctly understanding their aims and tasks. Moreover, I believe a personal approach is best as it allows me to understand the needs of the student which in turn will allow the student to benefit the most as I focus purely on their needs.

Availability: I am currently on my summer break from the University of Southampton so my availability is very flexible till October.

Experience: While I was studying for my GCSE’s I participated in a reading scheme at Stafford Grammar School. This entailed myself being partnered with a younger student in a lower year and together we worked through a text of their choice and I helped them improve their reading and analysing skills. The scheme lasted about a six weeks and we would meet weekly to improve their skills together. The six weeks allowed me to see clearly the progression the younger student made, and at the end the student was reading clearer and no longer stumbling on their words. They also felt more confident analysing the text at hand. Additionally, I am currently taking part in an English Mentoring Scheme at the University of Southampton. This scheme means I am paired with a first year student and we meet fortnightly to discuss all elements of the University and University life and I am able to help any elements of their study they require.
