I graduated from the University of Manchester with a First and two awards and have a PGCE from King`s College London. In my previous job I was Head of the Department for Classics for three years and transformed GCSE results. I have taught Latin, Greek and Classical Civilisation up to Key Stage 5 in three different secondary schools in London.

Joined a failing department in a non-selective academy and transformed the results. Progress 8 score increased by 2.77, GCSE grades 75% 7 and above, 100% of PPE students made expected and above progress
Increased GCSE class sizes from 3 to 26, doubled number of students doing Latin at Key Stage 3

Responsible for all students progress and focus on data produced; key groups of students targeted and tracked and termly meetings with head teacher to review. Data on progress informs rewards, contact with parents and interventions
Organised and led trips to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Rome, British Museum, St Albans, Cambridge University, Museum of London, Museum of London Docklands and John Soanes Museum

Responsibilities
Developed from scratch GCSE Latin and Classical Civilisation A-Level courses after attending examination feedback sessions, visiting other Classics departments, including Rooks Heath College and Tiffin Girls` Grammar School, in search of development of my own, and subscribing to social media outlets such as WJEC/Eduqas Latin Resource sharing. Wrote up all the schemes of learning based on cognitive theory such as retrieval practice and spaced learning (Kate Jones) and cognitive load theory (Daniel Willingham)
