Conversion

To convert from a bigger unit to a smaller unit, you multiply and to convert from a smaller unit to a bigger unit, you divide.

For example, to get from millimetres to centimetres, you divide by 10 and to get from centimetres to millimetres, you multiply by 10.

Next, if you want to get from centimetres to meters, you divide by a hundred if you want to do it the other way round, you multiply by a hundred.

If you want to get from metres to kilometres, you divide by a thousand and if you want to do it the other way round, you multiply by a thousand.

Finally, to do the trickiest conversion from kilometres to miles, you divide by 1.609 to get an approximate answer and you multiply by 1.609, if you want to do it the other way round.
