Deep Time Assignment

PLACED IN DEEP TIME!

The evolution of universe is wrapped in the layer of time, a deep time! It is like a stratigraphy in which every layer of the fossils reveals a new story. It has a long history which even can t be imagined. Since the 4.6 billion years of birth of solar system to evolution of moon rock, unicellular organism and multicellular organism it has travelled a long way. Around 250 million years ago almost 90% of the species got extinct. Mass extinction including dinosaurs happened around 66 million years ago.

If we try to imagine the extinction of dinosaur s time span with respect to the evolution of earth, we can have a very interesting metaphor around us. In general, if we consider our lecture hall having length of 46 m long as the scale for life of solar system which is 4.6 billion year then the 66 million year which is the extinction of dinosaurs as well starting of mammals that now exists will be a cricket ball of radius around 6 cm. It provides a beautiful picture! A lecture hall with a cricket ball taken in hand which is in the centre of the hall. The large hall represents the solar system s life and the cricket ball in the centre represents the starting of mammals that now exists.

We can also get a lot of representations by just increasing or decreasing the size of cricket ball and the size of hall in the same ratio. When the cricket ball becomes the nib of our pen having radius around 0.6 mm the hall becomes the box having length around 46 cm.
