1. Nouns and adjectives ending in an unstressed vowel or in stressed -e form the plural with -s : mesa / mesas, estudiante / estudiantes, taxi / taxis, claro / claros, tribu / tribus, consomm / consomm s.

2. Nouns and adjectives ending in -a or in stressed -o form the plural with -s : mama / mam s, maraj / maraj s, bur / bur s, domino / dominos.

(The words no and yo form the plural with "-es": noes and yoes).

3. Nouns and adjectives ending in -i or in -u stressed can form the plural with -s or with -es : ski / skis / skis, escalpel /e scalpels / scalpels, tab / tabues .

In the gentilices the plural is preferred in "-es": Morroqu / Morroques, Somali / Somalies, Ceit / Ceut es.

(The plural of the adverb yes is yes, and that of the musical note if it is sis.

4. Nouns and adjectives ending in -y preceded by a vowel form the plural with -es : ley / leyes, convoy / convoyes.

But the nouns and adjectives of this type that have recently arrived in Spanish form the plural with "-s": spray / espr is y quey / yoquis.

5. Nouns of foreign origin ending in -y preceded by a consonant are adapted to Spanish by changing the y for an i : ferry/ferri, panty/panti, and form the plural by adding -s : ferri/ferris, panti/pantis
