Before Your First Lesson

All the things you will need for your first violin lesson: a violin and bow

shoulder rest/sponge

book of sheet music (your tutor will recommend what you should purchase)

Not sure what size violin you need?

Not to worry, there is an easy test to work this one out hold the violin in your left hand and place it

on your left collar bone, under your chin. Stretch out your left arm until the hand curls round the scroll.

Can you do this comfortably?

If you can the violin is the perfect size.

If you can`t quite reach you will need a smaller violin.

If you can stretch even further, past the scroll, try the same test on a larger violin.

Please note if you are an adult it is always recommended to use a full size violin.
