Is the y intercept equation on a scatter graph produced on excel meant to be the same as the correlation coefficient in a spearmans test from spss. or is the y intercept a different thing?

Hi,
What Excel reports is the parametric Pearson`s r-squared. It might well be different from the Spearman`s rho vlaue if the data are significantly non-normally distributed. Although Excel doesn`t seem to state which it is, the help file for the Correl function gives the Pearson equation.
