As 2020 has now come to an end many people will be feeling a sense of a relief. With the spring weather ahead, and the prospect of an effective vaccine the worst effects of the pandemic are surely behind us. This has been a year during which everyone has experienced considerable hardship, and hopefully this shared struggle has brought us all closer together.

We still have a long road to travel before the economy fully recovers, but with enough time and hard work the devastation of this year will be far behind us, consigned to the annals of history. A healthy and well functioning education system is vital for any economy, as it ensures the workforce is sustained by a constant supply of able employees. The most problematic legacy of this pandemic may prove to be the interruption to school children`s education. There is no child whose education has not been disrupted this year. For more than 6 months the vast majority of schoolchildren were absent from school premises; and though still in contact with their teachers, and set work through various online resources, their academic, as well as social development, can only have suffered.

Following the social distancing guidelines, many tutors have, for the very first time, turned to online tuition to deliver their classes. Though some may have found the transition difficult, adjusting their teaching style to suit the screen, their familiarity in their subject soon made the unfamiliar medium of deliverance no difficulty at all. As with all things, a practice makes perfect.

Though online lessons have been available for some time, with Tutor Hunt having offered them for many years, 2020 has seen an astronomical increase in their application. The private tuition industry has certainly provided much assistance to the education sector, with thousands of students receiving with lessons they would otherwise have missed out on. We would like to say a huge thank you to all our tutors who have helped make this year a little easier for so many parents and pupils. Happy new year to everyone.
