Information about William

After graduating from Oxford University with a high 2:1 in PPE (Philosophy Politics and Economics) I have now been tutoring for over a year. My students have gained excellent exam results and given me superb personal feedback.

I really love teaching and believe it’s a profession in which I may one day settle. At the moment I am pursuing a career in theatre direction, as this is my other passion.

I`m a very outgoing, warm, communicative person with a good sense of humour and a great deal of patience. I really enjoy working one-on-one with others, and people have often commented that I have an exceptional talent for explaining things.

Before either of us commits to tutoring, I offer a free introductory session where we can get to know each other and discuss a plan for lessons.

Availability: Day times, weekends and evenings are all possible, in principle.

Willing to travel: 15 miles

Experience: I tutor in a way that engages each student as a unique individual with his or her own way of learning – this is often missed by teachers in large class groups at school. I try not to lecture students or burden them with too many facts rather I ask questions in a way that encourages them to think clearly about issues in a way that helps them to form their own opinions and arguments and then I provide them with facts where necessary.

I have now been tutoring for over a year. My students have gained excellent exam results and given me superb personal feedback.

I have directed several plays and led many theatre workshops, bringing me into contact with a large number of young people. These experiences helped me develop many different approaches to teaching and I am now highly innovative, responding to unique individuals and circumstances.

In addition, my work with The Wycombe Swan Youth Theatre, The Lighthouse and my volunteer work at various homes for the elderly has helped me develop my skills of engagement with people from all walks of life.

Qualifications: Prior to achieving a high 2:1 in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) from Oxford, I achieved straight A`s at A-Level and GCSE from Berkhamsted Collegiate School. My A-Levels include Politics, Art and Economics. In particular, I achieved one of the top 5 marks in the country for A-Level Art and I scored 100% for A2 Economics.

After school I attended the Oxford School of Drama`s 6-month Acting Foundation Course.
