Information about Thomas
I have experience in both face-to-face and online tutoring. I am also happy to proofread essays for grammar, spelling, structure, style and content. Please contact me if you have any questions or require a more bespoke service.
Last year I gained an MSc in Political Sociology with Distinction from the London School of Economics. My specialities included political sociology, sociological theory, economics, and the sociology of culture.
I hold a First Class BA (Hons) in American Studies from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, an interdisciplinary subject which included the study of History, Literature, International Relations, Politics and Sociology.
I also spent a year studying at Reed College, a liberal arts college in the United States, for which I was awarded a Commendation for Academic Excellence from the Faculty.
I have also taken evening classes in Micro and Macroeconomics at Birkbeck College, University of London, and gained a Certificate in Spanish Language from the LSE.
My academic interests are broad. I am very interested in sociological theories of race and gender and how they intersect with contemporary debates about class. I have worked on projects to help understand how social media is changing political activism. I have an article forthcoming in a peer-reviewed journal of literary criticism.

Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: Summer 2013: Course assistant for LSE`s CHOICE Widening Participation flagship summer school in Sociology, included designing a syllabus for the students, teaching a seminar, and working as an in-class assistant.
September 2011-2012: I worked as a learning assistant at a comprehensive school in North London. I worked one-to-one and in small groups with children with learning difficulties and disabilities. My job covered a range of subjects but much of the time I spent helping to teach English and Mathematics. As part of my role I also mentored children and provided one-to-one tutoring after school in KS3 English and Mathematics.
