Maths (primary, ks3, gcse, degree, adult-learner, a-level)
Help in mathematics at all levels and ages through university level. I have a PhD, but also many years of teaching the basics in adult education. Exam preparation and much more. Learn from me what you didn't learn in school. I will make it understandable and interesting. My recent tutoring experience has been mainly in preparation of students for GCSE and A level exams. My successes lose me students, though, so I have room for more.
In addition I am quite open to branching out in many directions from this. I have one student who is getting help with work related maths from me, and I would very much like to do more of this kind of tutoring. I would be especially interested in doing some enrichment tutoring, showing students, both young and old, that there is more to maths than what you learn in school. I would also find it especially interesting to help people with the mathematics arising in other subjects, science, technology, etc..
I am very good at helping people integrate maths with IT. For example, I can help you use Excel to do calculations much quicker than with your calculator, I can show you how to do some very nice things with graphing calculator software, and I can even get you going with some simple Python programming.
In general my approach is very practical, very much with the attitude that maths is not just for geniuses, but rather a beautiful and useful subject that can be accessible to all.
As well as locations close to my home in Appleton, I am also willing to travel to Manchester, provided it is near the university.
