Information about Lisa-marie
I am a fully qualified English teacher who has had to retire from full time classroom teaching due to ill health and disability. I am an extremely competent and professional teacher, and would like to continue with my vocation, teaching, to the best of my ability. To this extent I would like to offer my skills as a tutor for students up to, and including, A`Level. My students have achieved excellent results and I have also proved to be very talented at raising students results from those predicted to 1 to 3 levels higher, typically from a `C` to an `A` or a `D` to a `B`, although one of my students this year went from a U to a C! I have experience of working with students at all levels, from those who may struggle with the subject to those who need an extra challenge that they may feel they are not getting in the classroom. I am also experienced at teaching students with special educational needs, including Autism, Asperger`s Syndrome, Cerebal Palsy, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalcula, Deafness and visibility impairment, SPLD and many others.
Availability: I am very flexible and am available during the day as well as in the evening. I would prefer to teach from my home in St. Paul`s in Cheltenham as I have mobility difficulties which prevent me from travelling very far however alternative arrangements are negotiable.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I have been tutoring for the past 8 years and have gone from having 5 students, in my first year as a tutor, to 30 students, leading up to the exams in May. All of my students, taking A` Levels, GCSEs and 11+/SATs, were ecstatic with the marks they achieved, as they have been every year I have tutored. Prior to becoming a tutor, I had been an English Teacher and RE for 3 years (4 including my training year). I was also a school ambassador and mentor during my degree and tutored to GCSE level while studying for my A`Levels. Over the course of the previous 8 years, I have tutored a variety of young people with a great deal of success: from an A2 Level student achieving an A grade in English Literature, which guaranteed her place in her chosen university to a GCSE student, who was predicted E grades but achieved an A in English Literature and a B in English Language, which has enabled him to continue his studies in 6th Form. Over the course of the last academic year, I had 20 A level and GCSE students, all of whom improved 1-3 grades from those predicted. I am obviously very proud of my students results and feel they offer evidence of my skills as a tutor.
Additionally I offer tuition for the 11+ Grammar School exams, all of the students I have tutored for this have gained entry to one of the Grammar Schools in the county.
