Information about Leila

I hold a Bachelor`s in Ancient and Modern History from Oxford University (Balliol College) and a Ivy League Master`s in Journalism from Columbia University in New York.

Having attended some of the most intensive academic institutions here and abroad, I understand the commitment required to achieve stellar academic results, and where these achievements can lead. I am passionate about child development and hope to continue working with children in the future.

I am an experienced debater, writer, singer and actor. I am deeply engaged in politics, and in my spare time enjoy performing on stage and team sports. I try to travel as much and as widely as possible. I enjoy picking up foreign languages on the hop and immersing myself in unfamiliar cultural and political environments most recently I have travelled independently around Israel, Iran, Bolivia and Madagascar.

For children, I believe the most important element of teaching is to make learning fun and give a child a sense of achievement in what they have learned. Engaging with a child`s interests and questions in order to make the necessary information appealing to them allows them to understand what they are learning in the context of their own experience. As such an approach geared towards their particular personality is always the most successful.

For teenagers and adults, I have found that the best approach is to identify which aspects of a topic hold the greatest appeal, and build the rest of the necessary information around these central areas. Different methods work for different personalities, and as such I ensure there is constant communication about what is working. The most important characteristic in a teacher is being adaptable to a tutee`s particular interests and habitual processes, so as to make the learning process as efficient as possible.
