Information about Rose
I am an extremely experienced and well-qualified teacher of English, specialising in A level Literature. I have taught A level English Literature for over 30 years and all my students have been very successful. I have also taught for over 20 years at University level, so can help with UCAS applications and undergraduate and postgraduate essays. I am familiar with all examination boards for A level, as I have been an examiner and taught revision courses with Justin Craig education for many years, therefore I am continually updating my subject knowledge and exam board requirements.

Rose was really helpful in the last year of my English A-Level in helping me understand how to use my knowledge of the texts to write concise essays that would be awarded marks by seeing what examiners were looking for. I was able to give her plenty of exam practice that she would mark and then go through with me which allowed me to achieve an A and meet the conditions of my university offer.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr Rose from the middle of year 10 until the end of year 13. She is hugely knowledgeable and hence was able not only to offer a deeper insight into the set texts I was reading for school, but also to equip me with an understanding of the literary and historical context they sit within. When it came to writing my two pieces of A-Level English coursework, Dr Rose was able to provide invaluable guidance on how to make my coursework essays as concise as possible, which was something I had previously found difficult. This meant I was able to express lots of ideas in the requisite amount of detail while remaining within the tight word limit and as a result I achieved full marks in both pieces of coursework. Dr Rose’s enthusiasm for English is infectious - so much so that I ended up applying to study English Literature at university! Dr Rose guided me through the application process, working with me on multiple drafts of my personal statement. Due to her help I had an interview at Oxford and received offers from Durham, York, Exeter and Birmingham. I cannot recommend Dr Rose highly enough. Throughout my time with her I was stretched above and beyond the confines of the curriculum. This meant I was able to achieve 9s in GCSE English Language and English Literature and an A* in A-Level English Literature and went to university well prepared for undergraduate study.
