Biology (gcse, degree, adult-learner, a-level)
Psychology (degree)
I am the Head of the Biology Department in a top UK independent school. I have been tutoring locally for last 5 years with excellent results. I hold two Science Degrees, Qualified Teaching Status and have also worked extensively outside of teaching.
I regularly attend exam board training days run by chief examiners and thus have an excellent knowledge of what the boards are looking for within examinations.
I can tutor Biology for all exam boards at all levels.
I am finding more and more that parents and students are being let down by their schools (especially in the Sixth form) and I have been able to provide families with advice about how to proceed with gaining access to exam s, doing resits, asking for remarks, dealing with predicted grades as well as providing university advice. I am more than happy to provide general advice as part of my general tuition in Biology.
Experience: Head of Biology at leading local independent School.
10 years teaching in some of the UK's top independent schools.
Field Ecologist for NZ Department of Conservation.
I am also a writer for the popular CGP revision books.
Qualifications: BSc (Hons) Ecology (NZ)
BSc (Hons, first class) Psychology (UK)
Qualified Teaching Status.
Member of Institute of Biology
Member of the British Psychological Society
Member of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management

He has been a very helpful tutor and was able to give my daughter and me advice on A-level Biology that our own school was unaware of! My daughter now feels alot more confident about her approaching exams.
We are looking forward to further help from this tutor next year, I would highly recommend him to anyone else!

My daughter had fallen out of school after a bad year and gained very low results in her A-levels. She wants to study Vet Science at University and we were at a complete loss at what to do.
Mr Muir was able to turn it all around for us. He advised us on all the steps we needed to take with the examination board, tutored Sophie through the difficult A2 topics that she had gained very low marks in last year and helped us through the coursework components of the syllabus. Sophie now has the grades she needs and has a place at University!
We cannot recommend this tutor enough. Many thanks again Mr Muir
