Information about Deborah
I qualified in 1990 and I have many years of teaching experience both in schools and in other establishments. I have been happily teaching Mathematics (GCSE) at Chichester College since September 2020 both as a Lecturer and Associate Lecturer. Whilst there, I have also been involved in Top Up Tuition with individual students.
I started tutoring twelve years ago on a very casual basis. I enjoyed it immensely and decided to commit to it seriously. Since then, my pupils have ranged from eight to seventy-five years of age!
I have tutored mostly in Maths and English from Primary to GCSE and to all age groups. In the past, Ive taught Basic Computer Skills, Key Skills, and Skills For Life to adults. Early teaching experience was mostly within Key Stage 3 and this included Key Stage 3 Maths planning, but also an involvement in Maths SATs marking.
In later years, as I developed a passion for the subject, I progressed to Key Stage 4/GCSE Maths (including some Higher Maths). GCSE is the level I teach now, and the level I am offering for tutoring. As one who grappled with it at school herself, I find it hugely satisfying to be able to help others who are experiencing similar difficulties
My aim is to build confidence, solid foundations, and an "I can do" approach. I consider it fundamental to establish a relationship of trust within a non-threatening, non-judgemental environment. The needs of the student always take priority, and I establish what these are from the beginning.
I have a positive approach and I`ve always been happiest knowing that I have helped someone achieve a goal or gain understanding in some way. I love those Eureka! moments.

Deborah has been tutoring my 10 year old daughter since the beginning of the year. My daughter has always struggled with maths and was beginning to fall behind. Deborah is always punctual and professional. She is patient and always seems to keep the atmosphere light hearted and not to intense. Thanks to Deborahs help, my daughters school teacher has noticed an improvement and her confidence has grown.
Would definitely recommend Deborah.
Tutors Response :
Thank you for your feedback and kind comments. It`s been a pleasure to tutor your daughter and see the progress that she`s made, and I hope she continues to do so.
