Information about George
Hello! My name is George. I am 25, I am from the North East of England and I am a graduate of the University of Cambridge.
Education is both a job and a passion, and I have been helping students achieve (and exceed) their desired grades for two years now.
I offer tuition in English and Film up to undergraduate level, with a particular aptitude for the AQA GCSE English syllabus.
Availability: Weekdays (including evenings) and Saturday mornings
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: A brief history of my academic career:
- 11 A*s at GCSE
- 3 A*s at A Level
- 2:1 in English (BA) from the University of Cambridge
- Distinction in Film (MA) from Newcastle University.
As you can see, I know what it takes to achieve top grades, and I know how to help my students achieve them, too.
My first experience of teaching came as an A Level student myself, when, once a week, I would visit a local primary school to teach reading and writing to five- and six-year-olds.
After university, I enrolled on a CELTA course, a qualification which allowed me to go to Italy for a year and teach English as a foreign language. This was a very formative year for me, giving me experience of teaching students of all ages and abilities in a mixture of one-to-one and small-group lessons.
Of these two types of lesson, it was the one-to-one setup that I found most productive and enjoyable, for it allowed me to tailor my classes to the individual needs of the student and work at a pace that suited them.
It has been a great pleasure, then, to continue one-to-one teaching back here in the UK, where I have helped students achieve their desired grades across a number of subjects and syllabi.
With me as their teacher, students can expect lessons that both challenge and stimulate, that are both fun and demanding, that help them reach their goals. See you on the field of learning!
