Information about Sofia

I am a recent Political Economy graduate of King’s College London, offering online tutoring in GCSE and A-level Economics, pre-university Politics (see below*) and Politics at degree level. Having studied large parts of my university degree online, I understand how to get the best out of online tuition and ensure lessons are engaging and effective.

I feel academic success is largely about two things: practice and confidence. The more practice you do, the more confident you become, and the more confident you are the more you’ll be able to achieve. I focus on increasing a student’s confidence in their own abilities and identifying how they can play to their strengths even in their ‘weaker’ areas.

I am familiar with and able to teach Economics GCSE and A-level content across various exam boards. My specialisms in Politics at degree level include, but are not limited to: Political Theory; Contemporary Issues in Political Theory; International Politics, institutions, and trade; Ideology and Identity.

My previous teaching experience includes tuition for school entrance exams and teaching music performance. I am always patient and adaptable in lessons, aiming to push tutee’s to the best of their abilities and to reach their personal goals whilst instilling academic self-confidence.

Please feel free to get in touch with any queries! I am very open to discuss your goals and how you would like to approach tutoring sessions so you can get the most out of your learning.

*Despite studying Politics at university, I did not at study it at A-level, as is the case for many who pursue it at degree level. I know from experience that it can be daunting to go straight into a politics degree without this prior experience. As such, I am open to developing sessions where we discuss topics often covered at university at an introductory level to help students feel more confident entering into university. These will ideally centre around basic concepts and discussions to introduce both the knowledge you will need at university and the skills to develop your academic ideas.
