Information about Oliver
I am an enthusiastic, reliable and confident individual, with a positive and friendly approach to people, and have excellent communication skills. I have a demonstrated history of working as a professional within the IT and Tech industries; my most recent role being that of a Field Engineer for Oracle.
I specialise in Maths tutoring (KS3/GCSE/A-Level/Adult Learner), but cover all of the sciences at GCSE level and also Chemistry at A-Level too.
At Swansea University, I studied both Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
I have 6 different A-Levels; Biology, Chemistry, Drama and Theatre Studies, English Literature & Language, Mathematics and Psychology, and an AS in Physics.
I passed my "11 Plus" exam when I was 10 years old and attended King Edward VI Five Ways grammar school from Year 7 all the way through to completing Sixth Form. Then, after a year out from education, I attending Bournville College and completed a new set of A-Levels.
Availability: Enquire for availability - my work means I can sometimes offer mornings and afternoons during the week and weekends, in addition to evenings across the week too. We do not have to have days set in stone and I can be flexible rearranging.
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: I do have a great deal of experience in tutoring, and in September 2023, I returned to tutoring for the first time since before the Covid outbreak. I love Maths and sciences, and the biggest draw to returning as a tutor for me was the fact that I actually miss the subjects because I have such a passion for them!
Some of my previous students:
Tutored a student of 15/16 years of age - studying GCSE`s - who needed help with the sciences. We went through the syllabus of all 3 sciences and maths and I helped him in preparation for his summer exams. He went on to complete a Degree in Film & Media Studies.
Another student I tutored with GCSE Maths; we worked together to ensure he received a high enough grade in Maths to enable him to continue studying it at A-Level and he went on to do a Business Studies degree.
The highest level that I have tutored is A-level. From around December 2010 to May 2012 I tutored a girl who needed help with her A-levels in the subjects of Biology, Chemistry and AS Phsyics. She went on to be accepted at Birmingham University to study for a degree in Biomedical Sciences.
And although this isn`t entirely directly related to tutoring experience, I have several nieces and a nephew who are aged from 15 - 31 years, who I have always helped out academically and provided support for them and tutoring whenever they needed it or asked for it.
