Information about Nuno
Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Nuno started taking piano lessons at the age of eight in Academia de Música de Lagos in Portugal with João Rosa. Alongside his passion for piano Nuno started flute lessons at the age of nine and the flute has been a familiar instrument to him ever since. Nuno has graduated with a First-Class Honours Bachelor of Music degree from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, under the tuition of with Michael Young and Benjamin Frith. He is now finishing his studies at the Royal College of Music on the Master of Music course, under the tuition of renowned pianist Leon McCawley. Nuno is also very grateful to Talent Unlimited UK and The Countess of Munster Musical Trust for supporting his studies in London, after giving him the Derek Butler Award.
In his country, Nuno has been a prize winner in several national and international piano competitions including; Concurso de Piano de Oeiras; International Competition Cidade do Fundão; Concurso Internacional de Música Cidade de Almada, IX Prémio Nacional Elisa de Sousa Pedroso, and the 20th National Estoril Competition. In the United Kingdom, Nuno was a finalist of the EPTA UK Piano Competition 2015, and the winner of the Eric Hodges Beethoven Competition 2015, the RWCMD Concerto Competition 2016, and the Mary Rees Chopin Prize 2016, and the Trevor Pugsley Prize for Piano performance. Nuno was also one of the finalists of the RWCMD Ian Stoutzker prize 2018 an award for the most outstanding performer at the college.
Nuno has also participated in several masterclasses with names such as Angela Hewitt, Katia and Marielle Labèque, Stephen Hough, Boris Berman, Tamara Stefanovich, Peter Jablonski, Artur Pizarro, Paul Badura-Skoda, Aaron Schorr and Aleksandra Zvirblyte.
Nuno has been performing regularly in the United Kingdom, Portugal and Italy. As a soloist and chamber musician, important performances include Prokofievs Piano Concerto N.2 for piano and orchestra with the Royal Welsh College Symphony Orchestra in St. Davids Hall, under the baton of conductor David Jones.

Experience: During is undergraduate studies, Nuno taught as a private piano tutor at the RWCMD, under the Student Teaching scheme available at the college. Nuno has taught students of all ages, from children to adult beginners, and has also worked for music schools both in Cardiff and London. All his pupils have had great rates of success in ABRSM examinations, having all achieved either Merit or Distinction in both piano, music theory and aural examinations.

My approach focuses the student`s individual characteristics and studies are modelled according to the preferences and wishes on their pianistic development. In my lessons I cover a broad range of styles and genres, and help on the improvement of important pianistic skills such as sight-reading, harmony, music theory, aural skills and improvisation. I am also a kind, patient and encouraging individual who transmits the passion for the piano to his students.Teaching available for all levels and ages including preparation for all ABRSM grades and diplomas."
