Information about James
My name is James and I have a Maths Degree and a Masters Degree in Applied Statistics. I also have 8 years` experience: three of those as a full-time Maths teacher and five years as either a face-to-face or an online personal Maths tutor. My expertise, my passion and my delight are in helping people grow to their full potential at Maths - whether they are children, young people or adults returning to study.
As a tutor I try hard to be approachable, affirming, engaging and - where needed - patient. Particular skills I work on include exam preparation, unlocking individual topics, invaluable resource ideas and building stronger foundations in core areas of Maths. With this approach I am certain I can help any student grow significantly in their confidence, subject knowledge, motivation and grade improvement.
I believe I can particularly help those who lack self-confidence or who feel that they are falling behind in Maths. But I can also assist more capable, aspirational students who need stretching and challenging. My specialism is tutoring students to pass their GCSE Maths. Sometimes this takes the form of a short `crash course` but, more usually, I begin tuition in Year 10 or Year11. I do, however, tutor Maths at ALL levels up to and including GCSE, as well as Maths/English/Verbal Reasoning/NVR for the 11+ Exams.
Availability: Daytimes, After School, Evenings & Weekends - see MY AVAILABILITY for further day-by-day details.

James has been tutoring our son for his GCSE statistics exams and has been an excellent teacher. His methods, manner & patience have given our son increased confidence & knowledge to sit the exam and it has been well worth the investment. James provided maths tuition for my son for about one year in the lead up to his GCSE exams. James has a naturally patient and relaxed style that lent itself well in building a rapport with my son. James has a very structured approach to his lessons that were both individually and strategically well prepared and thought out.
