Information about Daniel
Daniel studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with Andrea Gajic where he won numerous prizes including the Nan Christie Memorial Prize for Strings, the Robert Highgate Scholarship for Violin, the Hilda Bailey Prize for Violin and the Bessie Spence Prize for Violin. He then continued at the Royal Academy of Music under the tutelage of Philippe Honoré and Erich Gruenberg. Daniel has also been a recipient of the Robertson Trust and the Countess of Munster Musical Trust and is currently an artist of the Concordia Foundation. Throughout his studies, Daniel has participated in solo masterclasses with Renato Zanettovich, Ruben Gallardo, Ilya Gringolts and Maxim Vengerov as well as chamber classes with Richard Ireland, Liana Gourdjia, Lilli Maijala and with members of the Brodsky, Szymanowski, Vanburgh, Signum and Borodin Quartets. Highlights include a duet with violinist Nicola Benedetti at BBC Proms 2012 broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, as well as solo appearances with Glasgow Philharmonia, Hastings Sinfonia and RCS Symphony Orchestra. In December 2014, Daniel made his debut in Japan performing/directing Vivaldis Four Seasons and the world premiere of Rhapsody, a new work written for him by Japanese composer Nobuya Monta with the Osaka Concert Orchestra as well as the premiere of his 2nd Violin Sonata.
