Information about Timothy
I am a MPhil/PhD researcher in the Law and Social Sciences faculty at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies), University of London, where I am examining local political practices and the impacts of decentralisation reforms in rural Myanmar.
I have a MSc degree in Asian Politics, and a BA degree in French and Politics.
I have a more general interest in comparative political science (particularly issues surrounding democratisation), political theory, political sociology and political anthropology.
Slightly more on my research can be found on the SOAS website.
I can also write and speak intermediate Mandarin Chinese and Burmese as well as being fluent in French.
I enjoy seeing the development of essay writing techniques, and showing how to add unique angles to your work that would make even the gruffest of markers smile!
I can also train students to think critically in politics and history, and engage in political philosophy/theoretical issues. This is especially helpful for interviews too.
