Information about Bruno
Hi, my name is Bruno and I am a Doctor in chemistry. I obtained my PhD at Imperial College London in 2017 and then went on to work as a researcher in chemistry at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Ive spent the past two years training as a cybersecurity specialist across a European client base and have enjoyed training and developing colleagues and customers in this industry. My passion has however always been chemistry and my ability to teach, develop understanding and communicate with this subject makes me an ideal tutor to help you pass your CGSE and A-Levels, getting you to your desired higher-education destination.
I would describe myself as a very patient human being who believes in the power of communication between student and teacher. Based on my experience there is no one size fits all when it comes to learning. I would be glad to have a conversation about where you want to get to and understand what is the best way I can help you to get there.
I am fully fluent in English, Italian and Spanish.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I obtained my PhD in Chemistry from Imperial College London in 2017. My project, about the design of new materials to be used in particle accelerators, was mostly in theoretical and computational chemistry.
Teaching played a major role in my PhD. I was the physical chemistry tutor for two groups of students. I led them through the first year syllabus by developing my own exercises to help them consolidate their understanding of course lecture objectives on a weekly basis. Furthermore, I was responsible for two computational chemistry labs. This involved introductory lectures, helping students to perform the experiment and marking their reports.
I carried out my postdoc at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. From a teaching perspective, the project allowed me to interact with the PhD students in the computational chemistry team I was part of and impart my knowledge and experiences of solid state simulation.
In 2018, having come back to London after my postdoc, I was asked by my PhD supervisor to redevelop one of the courses I used to teach by using the tools I had become familiar with during my postdoc. This new version of the course has been used for the past two years with excellent feedback from the students and the staff delivering it.
My career then shifted towards the cyber security industry. I was hired into a client facing role, in which I acted as the technical point of contact between clients, partners and all business units within the company. This experience was not directly related to science, however it enhanced my knowledge of new technologies in the IT field, both in terms of cyber security and the use of virtual platforms as a primary means of communicating and executing the companys objectives.
My passion has however always been chemistry and my ability to teach, develop understanding and communicate with this subject makes me an ideal tutor to help you pass your CGSE and A-Levels, getting you to your desired higher-education destination.
