Information about Julie

I am currently a Doctoral trainee in Clinical Psychology. I have a BSc in Psychology and a Postgraduate qualification in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (IAPT Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Training). I also have experience tutoring and working within schools assisting students with extra learning needs, as well as experience marking work for MSc students.

I have a keen interest in Psychology and English Literature. In addition to tutoring I offer support for those who are applying for university and may need support with personal statements or job applications. Alongside my clinical and research roles, I have worked as a tutor and a teaching assistant for GCSE English and A-level psychology. This has provided me with the experience of teaching required psychology modules and marking work using different examination board’s criteria. I am able to hold in mind the different abilities of students and understand the various areas of assessment. As part of my doctoral training I have experience as a formal assessor for the masters course in psychology.

As a tutor I ensure I break down information in a way that is easy to learn. I am patient and approachable and work to ensure students are well supported and able to learn to the best of their abilities. I have access to past papers and marking criteria and I also have experience marking work formally for MSc students in psychology. In addition to helping students gain knowledge in their subject areas, I work with students on practicing their structure for exam papers and ensuring they are meeting the appropriate marks.
